Self-Care Isn't Selfish

November 01, 2017

You and your body deserve just as much attention as you devote to the others around you. While it can be difficult to find time in your busy life to devote just to yourself, here are a few tips that may change your wellness for the better without taking up a bunch of your time.

1. Stay hydrated

Water is one of the most important things you can give to your body. It helps transport nutrients to give you energy, lubricates your joints, and expel waste. It can even help stabilize your mood and keep your skin nice and supple!

2. Try aromatherapy

There are all different kinds of essential oils to help you get through your day. Spending a few moments relaxing and recharging may help you manage your stress, minimize your anxieties and maintain your focus.

 3. Stretch a little

Take a minute to sit/stand at your desk and stretch. You’ll get blood flowing and feel more refreshed, which may lead to higher productivity and better alertness.

4. Eat more greens

Swap out your lunch for a salad, or your afternoon snack with vegetables like raw broccoli and celery. Eating greens is a great way to get the vitamins and minerals you need to power your body throughout the day. You’ll feel more energized, get better hydration and supply yourself with better nutrition.

 5. Be still

While this might seem like the hardest tip to follow, there are baby steps you can take to accomplish it. Just start small. Close your eyes for a minute or two and focus on your breathing. Admire something going on outside. Just relax and get your mind right.
